Welcome to the project page of Jacob Clark.

The term “Code Monkey” applies to most software developers who feel constrained to write applications for the benefit of some company instead of for ourselves.

I have started this site to provide information about what I do and who I am. I am not trying to be narcissistic but rather I am using this medium to set down some thoughts.

A bit about me then. I am a Software Developer / Architect / CTO with a multi-faceted background. I program primarily in C# these days but I have spent years in Delphi, SQL Server, Javascript, and so on. I pride myself on being able to work in just about anything from COBOL to Objective-C.

Personally I am a family man with my wife and 2 daughters, 3 step-daughters, one step-son, a grandson, and my cat.

My philosophy is simple, I believe in no absolutes in life, but rather that there should be balance in everything we do. From balancing personal vs. professional lives to the balance between extreme programming and taking the shortcuts necessary to get the project completed in a timely manner. Balance does not mean equality, but rather assigning the correct weight to an item.

I also firmly believe that knowledge defeats many human-related issues. Anger, Jealousy and Hate for example, can usually be removed with enough knowledge, understanding, and patience.

Of course it helps even more to not take yourself too seriously.
